What is a Mad Science Camp?
Mad Science camps are designed for exciting fun hands-on science activities. Your child will become a junior scientist for the week, having the opportunity to experience a variety of science explorations. We use an inquiry-based technique that allows even the youngest camper to enjoy learning. Children will design, create, build and assemble a variety of interesting projects and will take at least one project home every day. We provide most everything your child will need. For full day camps, please provide a nut free lunch and nut free snacks for your child; for half day camps please provide a nut free snack for your child. Children should dress comfortably and come ready to have fun! Also, our curriculom involves som active games so please send your child with shoes in which they can run and participate, no flip flops please. Long hair should also be tied back in a pony tail.

What ages are the camps designed for?
All of our camps are appropriate for ages 6-12. If you have a 5-year old child who is entering first grade, they may still enjoy our camps. However, they need to be a child who is not easily frustrated, has some reading skills, and does not mind being helped.

Do you offer a Pre-K camp? - Living Montessori Academy offers this camp
“The Garden” is a five-session preschool camp offering young children (ages "older" 3's - 5) an exciting introduction to basic environmental science. Each session is devoted to different aspects of the garden, allowing children to progressively enrich their understanding of how living things grow and how they interact with the environment around them. During the course of each two hour session, children will perform hands-on experiments, play themed games, and story related to the session's themes. **A mural will grow through the course of the program as children illustrate their latest discoveries at the close of each session.

**The ongoing mural is based on camps running at least 4 days.

Are different aged children in the same camp
Yes. We use a buddy system whereby the older children will sometimes help the younger ones. Also, our instructors are trained to relate to different age groups. For most of the activities, the children work in small groups.

Who are the Mad Science camp instructors?
Most of our instructors have worked for us in our after-school programs that we conduct schools throughout the area. All of them have experience working with children. We also do a criminal background check on each one. The common bond all of our instructors share is a passion for science and working with children.

My child has attended a Mad Science camp before. If he/she took a particular camp, will it be the same camp as before?
While the camp themes may be the same from year-to-year, we review our camps each spring to insure we are offering the most up-to-date science and activities that kids will enjoy. We have had a lot of children take a particular camp again and enjoy it just as much the second time.

Are these the only locations where you are holding your camps this summer?

Maybe not. We may be adding locations, especially in the outlying areas. Also, if you can get at least 15 children and can provide a location, we will bring a camp to you. Usually, we can customize something to fit the times and dates that you want. Call us, we would love to discuss this option with you.

At some of the locations, it appears that you are offering two different camps on the same weeks. Is this correct?
Yes. We have access to two rooms at some locations and will be running two camps at the same time.
