Science Camp - Mad Science Style

2019 Summer Camp Locations

Summer camps with Mad Science are the best!

Mad Science camps offer a daily combination of in-class discovery and exploration, outdoor games and physical activities, and hands-on applications of the scientific principles presented.

Your child will be able touch, see, hear, smell and taste what science is really all about.

We use simple, real world science techniques that allow even the youngest of campers to enjoy our learning environment.

Campers create, build and assemble a variety of take-home projects while exploring how science affects the world around us.

Children have so much fun that they forget they’re learning!

Mad Science camps are offered in these locations:

Bothell /
Mill Creek

Edmonds / Shoreline

Sammamish / Snoqualmie

Ravenna-Eckstein / Laurelhurst / Magnuson

Greenlake / Ballard / Loyal Heights

Magnolia / Queen Anne

All Seattle

With eight exciting week-long camps, including:

Crazy Chemworks
The wonders of chemistry are revealed as your junior chemist creates surprising concoctions, breaks molecules with ease and shakes up a flask full of fun. Kids will use the tools, safety procedures and laboratory techniques of real chemists as they investigate solids, liquids and gases at the atomic level. They’ll craft chemical combinations to create super-sticky-stuff, analyze the properties of light and discover why things glow-in-the-dark. Exploring the elements has never been so much fun!
-- Best for children entering 1st through 6th grade

Creative Contraptions - (formerly Eureka)
Our Mad Science inventors go on a journey of discovery. Each day campers are given a series of challenges which they must overcome using basic materials, simple machines, tips from famous inventors and the most important of all -- their mind! Follow in the footsteps of daVinci, Edison and the Wright Brothers. Envision the fantastic futures of Jules Verne and Isaac Isimov. With a little bit of ingenuity, children will create catapults and forts then lay seige, fabricate innovative flying machines, and design their own gizmo portotypes. While Thomas Edison said, "invention is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration," this camp is 100% FUN!
-- Best for children entering 1st through 6th grade

Junior Science Explorers - NEW for 2019!
Decipher the world all around us in this exciting camp just for your young scientist! Campers will develop their Earth awareness and explore this world as junior naturalists before heading to space as junior astronauts. Campers will also explore why their big toe is important and how to find their center of gravity when they investigate the science of sports!
-- Best for children kindergarten to 2nd grade.

Radical Robots  - NEW ROBOT for 2019!
Join Mad Science and our Radical Robots as we investigate the FUNdamentals of robotics. We'll examine the science behind electricity, conductors and simple cicuits. We'll experiment with line-tracking, sound and infrared sensors, and investigate how robots use the components to function and explore the world around them. Each day campers will assemble sections of their own Kiko.893 Robot from OWI (cost included in camp price) to take home and continue their discoveries.
-- Best for children entering 2nd through 6th grade

Campers will build and take home Kiko.893

Rocket Lab - NEW for 2019!
Just in time to celebrate the 50th anniversary of landing on the moon! Step into the shoes of a rocket scientist as we discover the fundamentals of rocket design, building, propulsion and the physics of flight. We'll explore the science of aerodynamics as we build and test the performance of paper airplanes. As we prepare for "Launch Day" we'll focus on the concepts involved in launching and recovering different types of rockets. Children will build and take home thier own Mad Science SkyBlaster Rocket!
-- Best for children entering 1st through 6th grade

Scene of the Crime - NEW for 2019!
Blood splatter and brain matter, oh my! Join Mad Science CSI and learn how science is used to uncover clues, examine evidence and determine what is and isn't relevant to the crime. See if your team can solve the crime by interrogating witnesses, discovering the facts (and just the facts!) and analyzing the evidence as a crime scene investigator. Learn that proper analysis and correct conclusions are critical to solving the last days crime scene puzzle.
-- Best for children entering 2nd through 6th grade who are able to read and write.

Spy Academy
Look out 007 – The Mad Science spy academy is in session! Sharpen your special operative skills as you uncover the secret world of espionage. Learn the art of listening and observation, sending secret messages and decoding clues, and check out security systems and super cool spy equipment. Discover what it takes to keep things safe and how technology works in the spy game. The key to being a great spy is your ability of “sniff” out your suspects and uncover their secrets.
-- Best for children entering 2nd through 6th grade who are able to read and write.

Super Science Sampler
Science comes in all shapes and sizes and we'll examine a few during this hands-on expedition. Become an engineer and build bridges, domes, cubes, and pyramids. Assemble and control pulleys, levers, catapults, and simple machines. Use chemistry to make your own sidewalk chalk and crystal gardens. Become an ornithologist and discover the unique characteristics of birds!
